ASTANA — Kazakh startup Spacelab, a member of the Astana Hub International Technopark for IT startups, has secured a spot among the top 15 space startups in California, the hub’s news agency reported on April 11.

Specializing in space technology, SpaceLab develops solutions to prevent natural disasters and manage their impacts.
According to the F6s global community, the startup also ranked in the top five in Palo Alto, the capital of Silicon Valley in the United States.
As stated by SpaceLab CEO Arman Bekembayev, the startup has started developing the Internet of Very Important Things (IoVIT) concept in 2023. This concept focuses on communications between personnel, computers, sensors, and controllers at locations of national and business importance. An object for monitoring precipitation and soil conditions in grasslands to predict flooding.
SpaceLab’s satellite IoVIT system facilitates reliable data transmission using satellite networks. To date, SpaceLab has signed contracts with Kazakh organizations, including telecommunications, mining and medical companies, to pilot the project.
The startup is also attracting interest among African countries such as Ethiopia. The team is currently working on expanding the project in the UAE market.
