Thanks to the efforts of Bo Jackson and Isaiah WestOhio State’s running back situation has really picked up over the last month, with two players committing at the top of the coaching staff and Carlos Loughlin doing a great job since arriving in Columbus, which has been a nice change of pace.
The Buckeyes are hoping to land three running backs in this class, with the player who has been linked to that last position being a former Cal product and Mater Dei product. Jordan DavisonDavison, the 96th-best player nationally and sixth-best at his position according to the 247Sports Composite, will finish his recruitment this week.
Davison announced Wednesday that June 28 is his decision date. With four schools remaining, the Buckeyes will join Oregon, Michigan and Alabama as finalists. But while Jordan’s official visit to Columbus went well, there are rumors that Ohio State is not in the driving seat this time around.
The other three schools are rising in their ratings, with Oregon perhaps the highest, as they are content with the two players they already have, and with the addition of Jackson and West, Locklin and the Buckeyes appear to have shifted their focus to the likes of Alabama. Anthony Rogers Originally from Tennessee Shekai Mills Night. Whatever the reason, Ohio State has effectively withdrawn from the race to acquire Davison.
Either way, Ohio State will find out its fate on Friday when his decision is made public. While he’s not the third player at the position in this class, the running back acquisition is still impressive and there are more to come.
The crystal ball is rolling at Ohio State.
Ohio State began seeing some good news earlier this week with the signing of a four-star defensive tackle. Maxwell Roy Trending toward the Buckeyes, who were targeted as a 2025 defensive tackle on Wednesday. Trajen Odom He joined in on the crystal ball fun when multiple predictions were submitted that he would be going to Columbus, too.
Odom, ranked No. 283 nationally and No. 31 among defensive tackles by the 247Sports Composite, is one of several North Carolina players Larry Johnson is targeting. Tyreek WilliamsSurely his example will help in this adoption.
Looking at projections posted by insiders like Bill Cleric certainly increases the confidence that the Buckeyes will ultimately win. If they do, it will further strengthen the acquisition of an already solid defensive line. With offers coming from Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Oregon, USC and many others, this would be a huge win for Ohio State. And it could be coming soon.
Check-in from Rivals Five Star Camp
The Buckeyes saw some of their commits perform at a very high level this week against some of the best players in the country at the Rivals Five-Star event, arguably the most talent-rich gathering of the summer, and the Ohio State staff must be very pleased with how their future players performed at the event, which shows just how solid their 2025 recruiting has been so far.
Starting with the offensive line, Carter Rowe He immediately made his presence known, racking up multiple wins over players who will be difference-makers at the next level. Showing quick feet and explosiveness off the ball, Rowe already moves very well with his college-level build and would be a great addition to the current squad.
Switching to the defensive side of the ball, we check out Ohio State’s latest commits. Zion Grady He was also a threat in one-on-one drills, and with an incredible combination of speed and power off the ball, Grady showed with veteran-like movement why he’s one of the best in the country at rushing the quarterback.
Ohio State taking a point from Alabama gives us even more reason to be excited. Grady’s athleticism is off the charts and he’s the perfect canvas for LJ to continue to develop.
