Interocean Marine Services (Interocean), a specialist provider of offshore support services, has announced an offshore demonstration of its Flyability Elios 3 UT drone. The Elios 3 drone’s ultrasonic thickness measurement (UTM) payload delivers accurate readings 10 times faster than traditional methods, making a game-changer in integrity inspection.
This Elios 3 UT demonstration was a great opportunity for FlyAbility to showcase the product and take questions from attendees. A showcase on the VALARIS Viking jack-up rig demonstrated in real time the elimination of risks associated with working at height and entering confined spaces. Now part of Interocean’s fleet of unmanned autonomous vehicles (UAVs), the Elios 3 drone provides a safer, more efficient, and cost-effective solution to assets by significantly reducing scaffolding and rope access requirements. Provided to the owner.
Interocean, which is committed to reducing downtime and improving safety across the energy, maritime and industrial sectors, is one of the first companies to offer Elios 3 UT drone technology worldwide.

Commenting on this groundbreaking event, Interocean Chief Operations Officer Alex Reid said: “As a leading provider of visual, conventional, and advanced NDT inspections, we constantly strive to continue evolving the services we offer. The introduction of the Elios 3 UT drone to market is important for Interocean and NDT inspections as a whole. It’s a milestone.
“On a personal level, I have worked at Valaris for over 10 years as an OIM and have seen first-hand the company’s commitment to efficiency and safety, which is why, as COO of Interocean, I was able to provide this innovative demonstration to the company’s team. I was very proud of that.”
Adding to this, Inga Khchoyan, Area Sales Manager at Flyability, commented: “Our team is pleased to have successfully completed a demonstration of our innovative technology so soon after announcing it at our user conference in March. Elios 3 UT is the latest advancement in our suite of technologies.”
From the quayside to the ocean floor, Interocean’s professional services span maritime operations around the world. Our global team provides “total project solutions” from planning, design and installation to operation and maintenance and decommissioning.
