Hyderabad resident finds fungus in Cadbury chocolate; company regrets ‘unpleasant experience’ | Trending

A Hyderabad-based Cadbury consumer was shocked to find germs on the chocolate after opening a bag of chocolates that were within the expiration date. A resident of Hyderabad clicked a photo of the spoiled chocolate and shared it on social media. Since then, many people have shared that they had similar experiences with Cadbury’s chocolates and suggested that users file a case in the Consumer Court.

“This milk was manufactured in January 2024, and the expiration date is 12 months from the date of manufacture. When I opened it, it looked like this. Check this out,” user X, who goes by the handle @goooofboll, wrote on his microblog. Posted on the platform.

At the same time, @gooofboll tagged Cadbury Dairy Milk’s official X handle and shared a photo of the chocolate.

The photos show the bacteria on chocolate made just a few months ago, in January 2024. It is also shown that there is a large hole in the back of one of the chocolates.

The consumer posted a complaint on microblogging platform X on April 27th. Since then, he has over 600,000 views and that number is still growing. Additionally, many users re-shared it, adding their own thoughts and comments along the way.

“Did they contact you to find out the batch number? Or did they just ignore you?” asked user X. In response, the complainant said the company “ignored” it.

Another added: “Chocolate has a shelf life of 15 days.”

A third X user suggested that people should “avoid eating chocolate” as there have been such incidents in the past.

“File a case in the consumer court with a photo and details of the store/supermarket where you bought it. Don’t let it go,” wrote a fourth.

A fifth person said: “Why can’t the fungi be seen in the first two pictures if they’re between the third and fourth?” Anyway, chocolate bars are disgusting. ”

The complainant responded and corrected the user that this was not one, but “two different chocolates.”

Many people expressed that they were facing similar issues with chocolate made by Cadbury and urged people to “look into the matter”.

In response to the post, the company said: “Hello, Mondelez India Foods Private Limited (formerly Cadbury India Limited) is committed to maintaining the highest quality standards, but we apologize for any inconvenience caused to our customers. I regret this,” he wrote. Mr Cadbury also shared their email address and asked consumers to write to them with their concerns.
