Howard University and the PNC National Entrepreneurship Center (HUxPNC) have selected Harris-Stowe State University’s Anheuser-Busch School of Business (ABSB) Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE) as the recipient of a $25,000 Innovation in Entrepreneurship Education grant for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The grant will support Harris-Stowe University’s efforts to enhance its entrepreneurial ecosystem and services, benefiting scholars, faculty, staff, alumni and the community at large.
The grant is part of PNC’s $88 billion Community Benefits Plan, which includes more than $1.5 billion in commitments to support Black Americans and low- to moderate-income communities, including efforts to foster entrepreneurship at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and support Black business owners across the country.
“We are very excited about this Entrepreneurial Education Innovation Grant from HUxPNC,” said Dr. Stacey Gee Hollins, interim vice president for academic affairs and dean of ABSB.
“As we work to expand our resources and increase the number of entrepreneurs we support, we are pleased to join a nationally recognized network to further these efforts.”
Through this grant, Harris Stowe’s ABSB CIE’s efforts to enhance entrepreneurial education and foster innovation were recognized.
The university’s release said the college’s dedication to supporting scholars and the community “aligns perfectly with the goals of Howard University and the PNC National Entrepreneurship Center.”
The second annual Black Commerce Conference will also feature CIE grant recipients being recognized and its leaders having the opportunity to present CIE’s upcoming InnovateX program, a new creative technology program. The conference begins June 19.NumberThe event will be held on November 21, 2024 in National Harbor, Maryland.
“The InnovateX program is an exciting new initiative for us,” said Christy Jackson, ABSB CIE Executive Director.
“We can’t wait to announce our initiatives to strengthen creative technology capabilities. We want to encourage innovation and experimentation by giving entrepreneurs access to cutting-edge technology tools such as gaming equipment for e-ports, 3D printers, virtual reality equipment and computer workstations.”
Recently, 23 entrepreneurs completed the MECCA Entrepreneurship Development Program offered by Harris-Stowe’s ABSB CIE, and six additional entrepreneurs completed an 18-credit entrepreneurship certificate from Harris-Stowe State University’s ABSB during the spring semester.
