If Ferrari decides to remain in F1, Helmut Marko, whose association with Ferrari is widely known, will not see Adrian Newey in red, but would rather see him in a “great like green” outfit. He says he is wearing “color”.
And coincidentally, Aston Martin is also said to be on the shortlist to sign the acclaimed design genius.
“Anything is possible with a great color like green.”
In the run-up to the Miami Grand Prix, Red Bull announced that Newey, who had already withdrawn from F1, would be leaving the team next season.
The 65-year-old, who has won 13 championship titles with Red Bull cars and counting, will bid farewell to the team sometime in the first quarter of 2025.
But where he’ll go next, even Newey doesn’t know.
The design legend is widely known for his links to Ferrari and is said to have already held one meeting with representatives from the Scuderia, while Aston Martin is said to be preparing a huge offer.
According to Sky Sports’ Craig Slater, “more than a dozen people who know Adrian well” said there was “real potential” for New Way to join Ferrari. He also said that “30 people” told him it was not an Aston Martin.
But Marko, who knows Newey well, says Aston Martin could be his preferred option.
“What color do you see new cars in the future?” Marko said, according to total-motorsport.com. “I think the red clashes a bit with the dark blue. But I think anything is possible with a great color like green.”

Fernando Alonso ‘always wanted to work’ with Adrian Newey
If Marko’s prediction comes true, Newey will team up with Fernando Alonso for the first time, despite both having careers spanning decades.
The two-time world champion is very positive about the idea.
“I’ve always wanted to work with him at least once in my life,” he said in Miami. “I have a lot of respect for him. I consider him a legend of the sport, probably the greatest in F1 history.
“Obviously as a competitor it’s an honor in a way to be able to drive with him in the paddock, but I feel lucky to have been a part of his journey and I’ve always loved his He was also part of my journey in a way because I was racing against cars.”
He revealed that Newey was also part of the conversation when he spoke with Red Bull about the possibility of joining the team.
“I got close a few times,” Alonso said. “Some of the past meetings were not only with Christian and Helmut, but also with Adrian, so I spoke to him a few times.
“I’ve always had respect for him and he’s always had respect for me. Let’s see what he does in the future.”
But whether Newey joins Aston Martin is a matter for team owner Lawrence Stroll, not Alonso.
“That’s a question for Mr. Lawrence,” he said. “We are very happy with the technical department. Adrian is the best or one of the best players there, but he needs to adapt to the team.
“Ultimately it’s Lawrence’s decision rather than Adrian’s.”
For now, Alonso will have to be content with his Newey-designed Valle Cree road car.
“I’m going to put an Aston Martin Valle Cree in my garage. It’ll be a little gift to myself for owning Adrian Newey’s car!” he added.
