Shari Tomlinson’s journey in baking and entrepreneurship is a testament to her passion and determination. It started four or five years ago when she shared her work with her friends while in high school. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to study Entrepreneurship and Business Management at the Jamaica Institute of Technology. Looking back on her own beginnings, she recalls: After a while of hesitation, she decided to launch a business called ‘Dough Jamaica’ in 2020 while working from home. ”

Although she struggled with making cakes at first, Tomlinson admits: I’ve made it for family and friends and I’ve gotten better at it over time. Currently, I enjoy trying out new creations. We introduced a monthly cake sampler box containing 4 different flavors. I’m driven to explore new ideas. ”

Tomlinson’s offering is a testament to her versatility and creativity. Her menu covers a variety of flavors, from cookies and pies to cheesecake. She emphasizes a strong relationship of trust with her customers, which she attributes to the appealing taste and aesthetic appeal of her creations. “I strive to keep my designs and taste simple and would describe my style as minimalist,” she concludes.

Tomlinson is a Zip Jock/TikTok sensation who has amassed over 10,000 followers on Instagram and is inspired by his brother Tom, who helps create much of the content on IG. He also frequently appears in Tom’s skits.

Recently, Gold Seal Flour gifted experimental flour to select bakers, chefs, and foodies. Tomlinson decided to bake a vanilla cake using Gold Seal flour for the first time. She says, “Normally I use Gold Seal for rolls and pies, but I chose a classic vanilla cake and the response was amazing.”

“We’ve offered Gold Seal flour to several bakers and chefs to try. It’s an all-purpose flour, but it’s unbleached and pre-sifted, which saves a lot of baking time.” says Mariel Wade, brand manager of Seprod’s Gold Seal Flower.

Today, Tomlinson is expanding beyond classic flavors like chocolate, red velvet, coconut and lemon to innovative flavors like lychee and coffee.
