GREAT FALLS, Montana – Great Falls is hosting some great events this weekend and into next week, and Shannon News will be joining us each weekend to take in the featured events and celebrations.
Juneteenth Celebration
The federal holiday fell on Wednesday, but a celebration will be held at Gibson Park today from noon to 3 p.m.
From the Great Falls Public Library
There will be food, games, education and storytelling elements, and an opportunity to come together as a community to commemorate and celebrate the end of slavery in the United States.
Downtown Night Market
Downtown Great Falls will host three night markets this summer, with the first opening on June 28th.
Next Friday, vendors of all kinds, arts and crafts, music and food trucks will take over the 300 and 400 blocks of downtown.

The event will take place from 5pm to 9pm and will be repeated on July 19th and August 9th.
14th Waking the Dead Tour
At Highland Cemetery, storytellers portray famous historical figures from Great Falls history in front of the 10 graves in the cemetery.
Performers include city founder Paris Gibson and artist Nick Russell and his wife.
The tours will take place on Sunday, June 30th at 1pm and 3pm and can be joined on foot or by ride.
Independence Day parades and celebrations
Spend your Fourth of July weekend in Great Falls.
The patriotic parade proceeds down Central Avenue and immediately following the parade, the road is closed off at the corner of Fifth and Central, a stage is set up and a free concert takes place.
Other options include baseball by the Voyagers followed by fireworks, dirt track racing and more fireworks.
Eagle Falls Golf Course will be closed on Independence Day evening, making it a great place to watch the fireworks.
