Governor Ron DeSantis Trump appeared again at the press conference on Saturday, holding a victory march at a Southwest Florida school where he and his political allies have made dramatic changes in recent years, telling a supportive crowd that “we ain’t seen nothing yet” when it comes to conservative reforms.
Saturday Lecture New College In Sarasota, DeSantis argued that the schools had been taken away from “the left” and were now similar to the schools where the wealthy white people who founded the United States studied.
“But our mission is, we want a liberal arts education that’s rooted in the Western tradition, a classical education like the founding fathers received at college, and I think that’s something that will attract people not just from Florida but from across the country,” DeSantis argued.
In remarks that touched on a number of right-wing favorite issues, including Major League Baseball’s move of the All-Star Game from Atlanta several years ago, the spread of so-called “woke” ideology and “corruption in academia,” DeSantis praised the administration for quelling protests against Israel’s ongoing war with Hamas.
“They turned on the sprinklers on the lawn at Florida State University. They quickly disappeared. We tried it at the University of Florida, but it didn’t work. Outside of the university, they tried to take over the streets of Miami.”

“A few months ago, Miami police pulled an entire gang of criminals out in 15 minutes, which was a very good result because in other areas they had held them for hours. Then a few weeks later, criminals tried to hold up a road leading to Disney World, but the Florida Highway Patrol got them out in 11 minutes, a new world record,” the governor added.
“If one college president in the state of Florida allowed his campus to become like Harvard or Columbia, he would be out of work the next day,” the governor argued.
