Governor Cox launches Startup State Initiative to encourage entrepreneurship in Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — Last week, Governor Spencer J. Cox and the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO) announced the launch of the Startup State Initiative and its statewide entrepreneurship brand and business resource portal at startup.utah.gov . The first-of-its-kind state website aims to support startups, small businesses and entrepreneurs at every stage of their business journey by unifying the state’s entrepreneurial resources.

“Utah has created the perfect ecosystem for startups to grow,” said Governor Cox. “The Startup State Initiative focuses on what already exists in Utah and takes it to new heights. It’s not just about Utah, it’s about setting new global standards for innovation and entrepreneurship. That’s it.”

With resources such as step-by-step business journey guides, resource filters, and a business plan generator, startup.utah.gov connects entrepreneurs to the information and opportunities they need to launch and grow their businesses. Brad Bonham, Utah’s first Entrepreneur-in-Residence, unveiled the new website at the One Utah Summit on April 12, highlighting its features and highlighting it as a new community resource.

“Startup.utah.gov and the Startup State Initiative celebrate, inspire and empower Utah’s entrepreneurs and the people who support them,” Bonham said. “We want to continue to encourage innovators to start businesses in Utah and let them know that this resource can help them overcome their entrepreneurial challenges.”

Utah is known for its entrepreneurial spirit, rapid growth, highly educated workforce, and thriving economy, which attracts doers and innovative thinkers to the state. Low corporate tax rates and high government support for small and medium-sized businesses make it a great environment for startups. These characteristics have earned us numerous accolades, including recognition as the best state to start a business, the best economy in the nation, and the best economic outlook of 17 states.th consecutive years.
