There are currently 120 million videos of shiny-haired girls on TikTok. But how can you become one of them this summer? Shiny hair is on trend this season, so we enlisted the help of two experts to find out how to tame frizz and keep your locks chic and shiny, whether you’re at home or on the go.
How to get shiny hair on holiday

“Wavy hair can have a tendency to frizz in humid weather, but the key is to work with the humidity rather than against it,” advises Marie Newwood, group education manager at CLOUD NINE. “Play to your hair’s natural texture by using moisturizing shampoos and conditioners designed for wavy hair, and resist the temptation to straighten your waves.”

Poker Straight Shiny Hair
“Poker straight hair is really trendy right now and is great for anyone who likes to wear their hair down,” says Paul. “The trick is to make sure when you blow dry your hair that the air passes through it from the roots to the ends. Drying your hair with a blow dryer helps close the cuticles of the hair for a smoother finish. Once your hair is dry, separate it into large sections and straighten it. Spritz each section with Flexible Hold Hairspray (£18) for extra hold and heat protection, then use a straightening iron to create a super straight look.”
Low Ponytail
A slicked back ponytail is on trend this season and perfect for creating a sleek girl look. “For a super smooth, shiny, frizz-free ponytail we recommend using our Hair Wax (£18),” says Paul. “Apply a 10p size of wax to dry hair and pull the wax to the crown of your head as you pull your hair back into a ponytail. Use a wet brush or wide tooth comb to distribute the wax throughout your hair and secure in a low ponytail. Apply a 5p size of Finishing Cream (£18) through the top of your hair and throughout the ponytail for incredible shine.”
