Geena Davis is always counting on her three children to lead her into the future.

In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE at CinemaCon 2024’s Big Screen Achievement Awards in Las Vegas earlier this week, the 68-year-old actress opened up about not being tech-savvy.

“I’m learning so much from them,” Davis said of her three children with ex-husband Reza Jarrahi, daughter Alizeh and twin sons Kais and Kian.

Ms Davies was in her 40s when she gave birth to her children Alizeh in 2002 and Kais and Kian two years later in 2004. She has since said she is “grateful” that Ms Davis waited for her to become a mother.

“I still wanted to wait in hopes of having children, but I thought, ‘The longer I wait, the more I evolve,'” she said during an appearance on ITV. loose talk “I didn’t have much self-esteem, but I was very determined that I wanted my children to have self-esteem.”

As they grew up, the Davis children eventually inspired them to become activists in Hollywood, leading them to found the Geena Davis Media Institute in 2004.

“From the beginning, I was troubled by the idea that we were showing our children a world that was so unbalanced…I realized there were far fewer female characters than male characters,” she told PEOPLE in 2020. told. I made that my mission in life, and now, 15 years later, it is my mission. ”

Speaking with PEOPLE at CinemaCon, Davis also reflected on how her three children weren’t able to follow her into a career in the entertainment industry.

“They’re all over 18 now, but I thought, ‘Don’t any of them want to be actors? I did it!'” she jokingly exclaimed. . “But now they both want to act. I’m like, ‘Oh!'” But if they wanted to be child actors, I would have had a hard time. ”
