The upper level of the main lecture hall and great hall at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was filled with tertiary students from across Ghana who had come to take part in the inaugural “The Entrepreneur Within You” campus tour organised by Maxwell Investments Group (MIG).

“Entrepreneur in You”, an initiative of Maxwell Investments Group (MIG) under the auspices of the African School of Entrepreneurship (ASoE), has been a catalyst for aspiring entrepreneurs since its inception in 2017. It fosters the entrepreneurial spirit and addresses global challenges by providing a platform for business development and being a source of inspiration for all.

The event, which took place on Friday, June 14, 2024, was attended by about 2,000 university students from the Accra and City campuses of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS), Kumasi and Asanti Mampong campuses of the Akenten Appiah Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Development (AAMUSTED), University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) and the Ghana Communications University of Technology (GCTU), among others.

Ghana’s largest domestic bank, GCB Bank PLC has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the country’s youth and entrepreneurship by partnering with and sponsoring the ‘Entrepreneur in You’ initiative. This laudable collaboration is the result of extensive discussions between the CEO of Maxwell Investments Group, Dr. Maxwell Ampong, the bank’s Head of Corporate Banking, Mr. Linus Kumi and Head of Special Projects and Investor Relations, Mr. George Fuachie.

The three also led an engaging and knowledgeable session with participants in the Great Hall, directly answering dozens of real questions from students.GCB Bank reiterated its support for Ghanaian youth and revealed plans to continue collaborating with Dr. Maxwell Ampong and the team at Maxwell Investments Group to forge clear pathways to impact student funding through incubators, accelerators, mentorship and training.

This initiative reflects the core values of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards and seamlessly aligns with global social impact standards.By empowering the youth and fostering entrepreneurship through its partnership, support and sponsorship of the “Entrepreneur in You” initiative, GCB Bank PLC, the largest local bank in Ghana, is directly contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure).

The event also responds to the clarion calls made at recent global events such as the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) and the World Economic Forum that innovative and sustainable solutions to global challenges are crucial. By equipping young people with the necessary skills and resources, GCB Bank PLC and Maxwell Investments Group are paving the way for a generation of entrepreneurs ready to tackle these issues head-on.

In essence, the Entrepreneur in You Campus Tour is not just a local initiative but a global movement. It is a testament to the power of collaboration between transformative institutions and entrepreneurial ecosystems like Entrepreneur in You that have the impactful expertise to drive sustainable development. The tour continues to inspire and empower students across Ghana, reminding us of the importance of youth engagement to realizing a more inclusive and prosperous future for all.
