Furniture and decorative goods business Nash & Co. opens | News, Sports, Jobs

Nash & Co., located at 204 N. Minnesota, specializes in restored and reclaimed furniture.

“Everything here is old, refurbished or salvaged.” said owner Stephanie Sardy. Some of them are from thrift stores, saved from landfills, or found on the side of the road. Item has been thoroughly cleaned, repaired, painted, and updated. The result is a store showroom filled with unique items.

Saadi has been involved in restoration and restoration work since 2013. She has a talent for restoring items, she said.

“Part of the fun is imagining what the work will look like.” she said.

Stephanie Sardy, owner of Nash & Company, said low-top dressers are one of the most popular pieces of furniture she sells. Dressers can be used for a variety of purposes.

Nash & Company is not the first business Saadi has owned.She used to run the store “No. 213” This old space is located directly across the street from Nash & Company.

Saadi said she closed store 213 because she was no longer able to work full time and raise her children. Four years later, she is ready to start working full time again at her new store.

Saadi said Nash & Co. is similar to No. 213, but has a more eclectic style. No.213 had items perfect for a rustic farm style. Nash & Co. doesn’t have a special look. Restored and repurposed items come from all kinds of backgrounds. All items are acquired second hand and restored, so they are all from different eras. We have items from various styles from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s.

Saadi said he recently restored some blond-colored ’60s furniture. No one wanted that color. She couldn’t part with the furniture. But once the furniture was sanded, painted and the fixtures updated, it became a popular item.

Saadi said the biggest challenge in running a furniture and decor business is predicting trends. Trends and colors are always changing.

When asked what colors are popular right now, Saadi said people want dark, moody colors.

Saadi’s mother, Tresea Wager, helps out at the store.she said people want “Straight and clean lines” on their furniture. The curves and spindles of the past decade are gone.

Saadi and Wager agreed that the most popular furniture item is low dresser drawers. Because short dressers have a variety of uses. It can also be used as a baby changing table, TV stand, or simple storage.

Saadi said he tries to stock unique items not typically found at big box stores. All items are pre-owned with restoration work, so some items in the store may be considered one-of-a-kind. Most people won’t be able to find these exact items anywhere else.

Wager said another advantage they have is that older furniture is built to last. The work has already stood the test of time. Nash & Co. is simply refreshing it.

Nash and Co. is open Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Saadi is busy finding new parts to restore and fix.

Saadi said the showroom will be continually updated as merchandise is sold and new items are refurbished.

“We sell the paint we use to people who want to do it themselves.” she said.
