World-class tennis champion, investor and entrepreneur Maria Sharapova, founder of the Dubai-based women’s empowerment community Women’s Empowerment Council, spoke at the flagship conference WE Convention held in Dubai in April. Held at Atlantis The Royal in Dubai with the theme ‘Big Goals, Bold Choices’, this year’s WE Convention featured over 100 speakers, 2,000 attendees, 23 sessions on the main stage and 12 rounds. Table discussions and 42 one-on-one sessions were held. – 1 coaching session.
On the sidelines of the event, Sharapova spoke to us about how her elite performance mindset helped her succeed in her post-tennis career as an entrepreneur and investor.
“Going into the entrepreneurial field was a natural evolution of being an athlete,” Sharapova said. “The decisions and teamwork you face as an athlete have a huge impact on the world of business and entrepreneurship.In fact, when I first started my tennis career, it was my passion. I wanted to play for some amount of time and have a family at some point, but I didn’t know how long my body could play. did not. So I started laying the foundations of my business early on. It really helped shape my thinking and perspective, and it was also educational as I learned from the amazing brand partners I worked with. ”
