A free, day-long seminar on children's mental health in the digital age will be held May 1 at the Polk State University Public Safety Center in Winter Haven.

Polk Vision, in partnership with the Polk County Commission and County Health and Human Services Department, will host a free, day-long event, “Conversations in Behavioral Health: Navigating the Digital Age,” on May 1st at the Polk State University Public Center . Safety in Winter Haven.

Polk Vision said in a news release that the event will educate those raising children or working with children to better understand the challenges and dangers of being surrounded by technology. He said the purpose was to inform.

Keynote speakers include Dr. Lisa Stroman, technology wellness and behavioral health expert and co-author of Digital Distress: Growing Up Online; Mr. Stroman takes on the challenge of developing responsible digital citizens and provides insights for creating a healthy technological balance in children.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd shared “Digital Danger: Parents Need to Be Aware” and Polk County Public Schools Superintendent Frederick Hyde shared “Social Media’s Impact on Childhood Adversity Experiences” and explains how the modern digital world is shaping children’s relationships and influencing their minds. health.

Dana Chandler, co-author of Digital Distress: Growing Up Online Companion Workbook, and Amanda Wilson, author of You Can SOAR: From Trauma & Grief to Triumph & Glory, will also speak.
