FORT DRUM — The 10th Mountain Division Sustainment Brigade hosted an Innovative Technology Symposium April 15 to discuss how the Army can enhance its warfighting capabilities through technology.

Warrant Officer 2nd Class Edilma Cruz, 10th Mountain Division sustainment bridge strategic maneuver officer, said the purpose of the symposium was to bring new technology to military bases and how Fort Drum can collaborate with other agencies to provide technology to soldiers. He said it was to show.

“The primary mission of the Pathfinder program is to collect the entire problem set from the Soldier at the tactical level,” Pathfinder program manager Cody Clevenger said in a news release. “And if we need that level of research to implement a solution, we will work with an academic institution from one of our partner schools, or otherwise with the DIRT Lab.” To do.”

Soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team provided feedback on the gunner’s assistant bag and the option to attach it to a rucksack. As a result, a prototype was developed that improves operating functionality and optimizes weight distribution.

“We want to involve Soldiers throughout the development of solutions,” Clevenger said in a news release. “Soldiers love to talk about issues they’re having in the field, and we’re trying to give them a way to talk about it directly.”

The Mountain Innovation Systems Integration Lab is expected to be operational at Fort Drum by the end of the summer.

According to Maj. Michael Fitzgerald, a G-3 knowledge management officer with the 10th Mountain Division (LI), the institute provides soldiers with ideas and technical support to solve problems they encounter during training and deployment. It is also a place where you can receive training and guidance.

The initial focus will be on projects that advance the department’s mountain planning efforts.

Soldiers also received training and field testing on the TRV-150 tactical supply vehicle during Exercise Mountain Peak. They can travel up to 60 miles per hour and transport up to 150 pounds of cargo in areas that are too dangerous for vehicles and personnel on supply missions.

The Civil-Military Innovation Institute team will test the TRV-150 at the 1st Brigade Combat Team’s Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Johnson, Louisiana.
