German football expert Christian Falck has confirmed that Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe met with former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel “last Tuesday”.

Despite leading Manchester United to the FA Cup, beating rivals Manchester City 2-1 in the final at Wembley Stadium, Erik ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford remains very much unclear.

Meetings are reportedly taking place at Old Trafford, with Fabrizio Romano claiming there is now a ’50/50′ chance that Ten Hag will be sacked.

Several names have been mentioned as a possible replacement for Ten Hag, with Mauricio Pochettino, who recently left Chelsea after being sacked at Stamford Bridge, one of the front-runners.

England manager Gareth Southgate is also thought to be one of Ratcliffe’s top targets.

However, Tuchel has been frequently rumoured to be ten Hag’s successor, with Christian Farke reporting that Ratcliffe is seriously considering appointing the recently departed Bayern Munich manager.

Manchester United owners Ratcliffe and Tuchel ‘meet in Monaco’

Falk claims that Tuchel and Ratcliffe “met in Monaco last Tuesday”.

Indeed, there was much debate as Tuchel tried to convince the British billionaire that he was the right manager to change Manchester United’s fortunes.

Part of the German manager’s “plan” is to repair “sporting issues” such as Jadon Sancho’s situation at club and Mason Mount’s poor form.

In an attempt to persuade Ratcliffe, Tuchel cited Antonio Rudiger as “an example of how we have successfully brought players with great potential back to peak performance in the past”.

Falk wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

“Last Tuesday there was a meeting in Monaco between manager Thomas Tuchel and new Manchester United shareholder Jim Ratcliffe.”

Tuchel has revealed his plans if he were to take over as manager if Erik ten Hag is sacked.

Tuchel is said to have explained to United’s co-owners how he could get United’s sporting problems, such as Sancho and Mason Mount, back on track.

Tuchel cited Antonio Rudiger as an example of someone who has previously been able to return players with great potential to their best performances.

Ten Hag is currently on holiday, awaiting a decision on whether he will take charge of Manchester United next season.

Despite a terribly disappointing season, the Red Devils ended it on a very positive note by winning the FA Cup.

Ten Hag won a trophy in each of his two seasons at Old Trafford and would likely be able to find a good job if he is sacked.
