A federal judge on Saturday issued a brief order suspending some filing deadlines in a classified documents lawsuit against former President Donald Trump and agreed to additional briefing on whether the case should be paused to consider how the Supreme Court’s immunity decision might affect criminal proceedings in Florida.
Judge Eileen Cannon set a two-week oral argument schedule for those arguments and suspended filing deadlines in three unrelated cases that had been scheduled during that period.
In a statement after the judge’s order, a spokesman for Trump said, “Judge Cannon properly issued a stay and sought additional clarification regarding the application of the Supreme Court’s historic decision on presidential immunity,” and called for the lawsuit to be “dismissed in its entirety.”

In that case, Trump is charged with removing classified documents from the White House and resisting government efforts to retrieve them. He has pleaded not guilty.
Saturday’s order was the latest delay in the federal case and upheld a Friday request by the Trump campaign for an updated schedule to allow it to argue points related to the Supreme Court case.
The Supreme Court ruled Monday that President Donald Trump can claim immunity from criminal prosecution for some actions he took in the waning days of his presidency, a decision that applies directly to the federal election interference case in Washington, D.C., but could have implications for all four criminal cases against the former president.
