Our “Trending on the Farm” series will highlight player trends among the top prospects in the White Sox system, as well as other notable performances from all affiliated teams.
Notes: This article focuses on players currently playing in the minor leagues. Jonathan Cannon and Dominic Fletcher are‘He went to the White Sox (Fletcher is also past his rookie year). The “top of the crop” portion was decided before the Dylan Cease trade, so Drew Thorpe, Samuel Zavala and Jairo Iriarte are all omitted.

Noah Schultz – MLB Pipeline White Sox #2
A rainout on Saturday pushed Noah Schultz’s start to the mound a day later, with a tough first inning doing all of the (minimal) damage. Schultz threw 67% of his pitches for strikes in this outing and pitched a customary four innings. In four appearances at AA, the 20-year-old Schultz has yet to issue a walk and has recorded 21 strikeouts in 15.2 innings. In 70 career innings, Schultz has only issued 13 walks and recorded 101 strikeouts.

White Sox prospect Grant Taylor is suffering from a right lat strain, which the team has not deemed a serious issue and is taking a cautious approach. No timetable has yet been set for his return.
Despite sitting out 2023 along with TJ, Taylor gave up two runs, struck out 25 and walked one in 16 innings at Low-A.

Grant Taylor – MLB Pipeline White Sox #13
Grant Taylor was placed on the seven-day disabled list with a right latitudinal injury but is expected to return soon.
Jake Eder – MLB Pipeline White Sox #10
Jake Eder had a great game last week against Pensacola. Eder held the Blue Wahoos five of six innings, allowing only a brief run in the second inning. The 25-year-old lefty has posted a 2.98 FIP, 3.30 xFIP and 11.01 K/9 in 61.1 AA innings for the Barons this year.
Bannister said of Eder: “He had a great side session and we made some changes to his arsenal… It was a breakthrough day for him, he came out and made some positive upgrades and I’m excited to see how he carries this forward for the rest of the year.”

Jacob Gonzalez – MLB Pipeline White Sox #7
Jacob Gonzalez was one of two standout players during a generally lackluster week for the Barons’ offense. Gonzalez has bounced back in 2024 after a tough draft year and is currently hitting .377 in 25 games at AA and went 3-for-3 with a stolen base last week.
Edgar Kerro – MLB Pipeline White Sox #4
Edgar Cuello looked off kilter against Pensacola after a hot spell last week. After hitting just six home runs in 2023, Cuello has 11 this season with an .813 OPS in 58 AA games.
Colson Montgomery – MLB Pipeline White Sox #1
Colson Montgomery didn’t have his best offensive week, but all three of his hits were for extra bases (a double and two home runs).
Peyton Parrett – MLB Pipeline White Sox #12
Peyton Parrett pitched well for three straight innings, but gave up a run in the first inning and was taken out after reaching his inning limit. He will look to bounce back this week against Asheville.
Brian Ramos – MLB Pipeline White Sox #5
The past week has been a struggle offensively for Bryan Ramos, who managed just two points in five games.
George Wolkow – MLB Pipeline White Sox #14
George Wolkow, 18, struggled last week against Delmarva, striking out 10 for 19 at-bats.
Nick Nastrini – MLB Pipeline White Sox #8
After being optioned by the White Sox, 24-year-old Nick Nastrini struggled against the Durham Bulls. Nastrini pitched wildly in the first inning, allowing three walks and a wild pitch, ultimately resulting in three runs. He gave up a two-run home run in the fourth inning, which was his final run allowed. On a bright side, he struck out five of six batters he faced while allowing no runs in the second and third innings.

Farm Trends: AAA (Charlotte)
Wilmer Defoe
32-year-old infielder Wilmer Difo was the Knights’ offensive mainstay last week, posting a 1.187 OPS with two home runs, three RBIs and one stolen base in five games.
Jared Walsh
Jared Walsh, 30, had three extra bases hits (a double, two home runs) and four RBIs in four games, good for a .982 OPS.
Addisyn Coffey
25-year-old relief pitcher Addisyn Coffey pitched well last week against Durham. Coffey pitched three scoreless innings, did not allow a hit, walked two, struck out four and earned two saves in two opportunities.
Deivi Garcia
Deivi Garcia, 25, was also part of the Knights bullpen and pitched well in multiple appearances. Garcia appeared on the mound three times, pitching three scoreless innings, allowing no hits, walking two and striking out five.
Farm Trends: AA (Birmingham)
Tim Elko
25-year-old first baseman Tim Elko led the struggling Barons offense last week. In six games, Elko batted .400/.455/.600 with a 1.055 OPS, four doubles and three RBIs. After a slow start to the season, Elko has posted an .816 OPS and 23 extra base hits (16 doubles, one triple and six home runs) in 58 games for the Barons.
Tyler Schweitzer
23-year-old left-hander Tyler Schweitzer made his AA debut and pitched well against a strong Pensacola team, throwing 67% of his pitches for strikes. The Ball State product had a 3.42 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 52.2 innings.
Kai Bush – MLB Pipeline White Sox #17
24-year-old Kai Bush was dominant on Sunday against Pensacola. Bush pitched seven innings, allowing just two hits and striking out three, throwing 70% of his pitches for strikes. Bush has a 1.78 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 3.09 FIP, 3.56 xFIP and 70 strikeouts in 70.2 innings this season.
Caleb Freeman
Caleb Freeman, a 26-year-old relief pitcher, pitched well in both games last week. Freeman pitched four innings, allowing no runs on two hits and striking out four.
Andrew Dahlquist
Andrew Dalquist, 23, pitched two games against the Blue Wahoos last week, allowing no runs and striking out two in both games.
Farm Trends: A+ (Winston-Salem)
Ryan Galaney
23-year-old infielder Ryan Galany had a strong week hitting last week against the Dash in Greensboro. Galany batted .211/.423/.526 with a .949 OPS, two home runs, five RBIs and more walks (6) than strikeouts (5).
Roydell Chapelie
22-year-old Roydell Chapelli went 5-for-11 with a .993 OPS in three games last week.
Colby Smellie
24-year-old catcher Colby Smellie went 5-for-11 with a .955 OPS in three games against the Grasshoppers.
Billy Seidl
24-year-old relief pitcher Billy Seidl was recently promoted to Winston-Salem and made his High-A debut. He pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing no runs, no hits and no walks while striking out three batters. Seidl also pitched in Kannapolis earlier this week, allowing one scoreless inning and striking out two.
Flanders Veras
Flanders Bellas, 25, pitched two innings last week, pitching five scoreless innings while allowing two hits, walking two and striking out four.

Albertson Asigen
22-year-old outfielder Albertson Asigen was a key part of the Cannonballers’ offense last week, batting .308/.412/.538 with a slugging percentage and a .950 OPS. Asigen also went 4-for-4 with a home run, 4 RBI and a stolen base as Kannapolis claimed the division title in the first half of the season.
Tommy Vale
Starting in place of the injured Grant Taylor, 25-year-old left-hander Tommy Vail did not disappoint. Vail threw 73% of his pitches for strikes in his starts and posted a 1.73 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 41 strikeouts in 26 innings for Kannapolis this season.
Jake Bockenstedt
Jake Bockenstead, 24, had another strong start for the Cannonballers last week, pitching six innings and allowing three hits, one run (earned), two walks and six strikeouts. Bockenstead has a 2.84 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 43 strikeouts in 44.1 innings pitched for Kannapolis this season.
Mark McLaughlin
Mark McLaughlin, 23, took the mound twice last week, pitching four innings and allowing two hits, one earned run, one walk and striking out two.
Farm Trends: Rookies (ACL)
Adrian Gill
18-year-old infielder Adrian Gill led the ACL White Sox offense last week, batting .353/.500/.647 with a slugging percentage of 1.147, three extra bases (a double, two triples), three RBIs and one stolen base in two at-bats in six games.
Javier Mogollon – MLB Pipeline White Sox #22
18-year-old infielder Javier Mogollon had a strong week, batting .278, on-base percentage .350, slugging percentage .556, OPS .906, with three extra base hits (two doubles, one home run) and six RBIs in five games.
Ricardo Brizuela
20-year-old right-hander Ricardo Brizuela made the most of his only appearance last week, pitching 4 1/3 innings, allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out five.
Emerson Talavera
21-year-old Emerson Talavera also had a solid performance for the White Sox in the ACL. The right-hander pitched four innings in one appearance, allowing two hits and no runs, walking one and striking out four batters.
Farm Trends: Rookies (DSL)
Jardrick Profar
Seventeen-year-old infielder Jardrick Profar led the DSL White Sox with a .963 OPS with one double, five walks and two strikeouts in four games.
Jomy Hernandez
18-year-old right-hander Jomy Hernandez took the mound once, pitching 3 2/3 innings, allowing no runs on two hits, one walk and five strikeouts.
Loydis Diaz
Eighteen-year-old right-hander Leudis Diaz pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings in his only appearance last week, allowing two hits, one walk and striking out three.
Orlando Suarez
17-year-old right-hander Orlando Suarez made two starts last week, with the second one standing out. In total, Suarez pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing 6 hits and 2 runs (2 earned), walking 5 and striking out 9. In his second start this week, the Venezuelan pitcher gave up 4 scoreless innings, allowing 2 hits, walking 3 and striking out 7.
