As part of EDA’s 2024 Women’s History Month celebrations, Assistant Secretary Alejandra Y. Castillo recently hosted a discussion on women’s entrepreneurship and innovation with Pamela Prince-Eason, president and CEO of the National Women’s Enterprise Council, a critical provider of resources and support for women entrepreneurs.
Ms. Castillo and Ms. Eason will discuss some of the resources available to help women succeed and reflect on opportunities to continue empowering and integrating women in all aspects of the American economy.
The U.S. Department of Commerce is committed to ensuring that the promise of American prosperity is equitably realized. In addition to EDA programs and resources, Commerce bureaus are actively working to serve the needs of American women in business. Here are just a few of the many opportunities:
- Minority Business Development Agency’s (MBDA) Business Centers for Entrepreneurial Women of Color promote women entrepreneurs as drivers of economic growth in their communities. These centers focus on helping minority women-owned businesses secure contracts and capital, create jobs, and grow competitive businesses.
- Through its Women’s Global Trade Empowerment Program, the Department of International Trade supports women entrepreneurs who want to expand their businesses in new markets.
-
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office runs the Women Entrepreneurs (WE) Program, a community-focused, collaborative and creative initiative aimed at encouraging and empowering more women entrepreneurs across America.
