HSHT students were required to create and execute a comprehensive business plan that included a 30-second video commercial for the mobile company, product, or service they wanted to create.

Third place goes to the team’s creation of Mobile Mechanix, a business plan for auto repair at home, work, and other locations.

Twenty-four teams from across the state participated, with only four making it to the finals.

“This year’s field of Project Venture participants was competitive, and these four teams gave some of the best final presentations we’ve seen to date,” said Allison Chase, President and CEO of Able Trust. “Students confidently, knowledgeably and thoughtfully discussed their business plans and deftly answered tough questions from the judges and audience.”

According to The Able Trust and the HSHT program, Project Venture is creating a forum for students to develop real-world skills.

Duval County West HSHT received a $500 award for its accomplishments. Gulf County’s HSHT team was named state champion, with Northern Broward and Leon counties taking second and fourth place, respectively.

Able Trust was established in 1990 to support the Florida Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Able Trust said it has a nearly 30-year history of supporting youth with disabilities in Florida through High School Hi-Tech, a comprehensive career and post-secondary exploration program for high school students.
