Sustainability Mafia (SusMafia) has awarded its largest non-equity climate entrepreneurship grant to BioCompute, a DNA-based data storage startup, at its SusCrunch 2024 event. The grant, worth Rs 31 crore, is aimed at propelling BioCompute in its fight against climate change.
SusCrunch 2024 brought together more than 300 climate policymakers from startups, investment funds and corporations. The event saw on-the-spot funding pledges from several angel investors.
“We aim to facilitate $100 million in investments in Indian climate tech startups by 2030 on behalf of private and angel investors,” said Priya Shah, general partner at Theia Ventures.
The summit also featured presentations from other promising climate change startups and test drives of Planet Electric’s high-performance electric trucks.
Sharing his views, Kuldeep Jain, Founder and MD, CleanMax, said, “The excitement at the first SusCrunch shows how things have changed. The community is vibrant and ready to take the movement further.”
SusVentures, a SusMafia program, has graduated its first cohort in collaboration with BITS Pilani. Five BITS Pilani student startups mentored by SusMafia have been showcased at SusCrunch 2024.
