East Main Elementary School District At Thursday’s (April 4) school board meeting, 63 school board members named a new technology director. Rebecca Lim, who currently serves as district instructional technology coach, will assume the position on July 1, when current director of technology Keith Schaefer retires.
“I am delighted that Ms. Lim will take on this new role,” said Mr. Dist. 63 Supplement Sean Schreiser said. “Her diverse background as a kindergarten and fifth grade teacher, her student-centered approach, and her extensive knowledge of educational technology make her clearly qualified for the position of Director of Technology for our company. Here are some of the reasons.
“In her three years as a technology instructional coach here in the district, she has done tremendous work, including spearheading technology integration efforts, securing funding for technology initiatives, and promoting equitable access for students. I have made a contribution.”
Mr Lim will earn an annual salary of $124,500 in his new role.
Lim began her career in education in 2012 as an elementary school teacher in the Atlanta, Bryan, Texas, Omaha, Nebraska, and Newhall school districts in Los Angeles County. She has also held positions in the private sector and she co-authored several volumes of the book series “Amplify Learning: A Global Collaborative” published by Dist. The 63 officials said they are “focused on comprehensively implementing educational technologies based on her research into K-12 education.”
“I’m really excited and energized to begin this transition,” Lim added. “The last three years have been extremely rewarding as I have had the opportunity to support D63’s extraordinary dedication to delivering quality education using a wide range of innovative technologies. We look forward to expanding our work and further enhancing teaching and learning.”
Lim graduated from Peru State University in Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, earned a master’s degree in educational administration from California State University, Northridge, and completed a graduate degree in educational technology from UMass Global in Irvine, California. I got the certificate.
