From getting your first job or business investment to advancing in your career, career development never ends.

Free resources, often funded by state or county initiatives or corporate sponsors, aren’t always easy to find. This month, Technical.ly highlights five free workshops happening in Delaware for people looking for entrepreneurial resources, a job promotion, or an entirely new career.

These opportunities are offered in-person and online, and are all brought to you by Delaware organizations. If you have a workshop or event you’d like to share, check out our new Technical.ly events board.

The following are selected in chronological order.

Four sessions will be held June 5-26 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the YWCA Homelife Management Center Learning Lab in Wilmington.

The YWCA will be hosting a four-part series of workshops on resume and interview preparation, networking, negotiation strategies and more for people looking to find employment or advance their careers.

June 12th from 1pm to 2:30pm on Zoom, hosted by the Delaware SBDC

Dr. Quenton Bond, NASA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Program Manager, will discuss opportunities for innovative technology entrepreneurs who want to conduct research and development related to NASA technologies.

June 13th from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Laurel Public Library

The Small Business Development Center and Fulton Bank will team up to discuss and answer questions about starting and maintaining a small business. The event will be followed by a free lunch and networking with other Delaware entrepreneurs.

July 18, 7-8 p.m., at the School of Professional and Continuing Education at the University of Delaware in Newark.

If you’re considering a career change or reskilling to advance in your career, you may find this information session useful, which will introduce attendees to instructors, information and financial aid options for programs like UD’s new Cybersecurity and Python programs.

June 20, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., New Castle County Chamber of Commerce, Startup Business Center, Wilmington

Prepare for the bank loan process with a three-hour workshop led by Margo Reign of the University of Delaware’s Small Business Development Center. Learn about business loan requirements, how to present your business, and what to expect once you’re approved.
