On January 9, authorities announced that 79-year-old Herbert Williams was killed on Highway 54 in Clayton County when a tree fell on him after a storm. His family is still grappling with his tragic loss.
“It’s only been 90 days, but we’re doing our best,” said Dorothy Williams, wife of Herbert Williams.

Months later, Williams’ daughter Kathy Butler is finally opening a selfie museum in the same shopping center as her father’s old store. It’s something her father aspired to make happen, she says.

“The day before he was killed, we had a family meeting and I said to my sons, ‘Make sure you help mom open that place.’ I’ve been working on that for a long time. That’s why,” Butler explained.
Butler said her father’s support made her want to honor him by opening the museum on his father’s birthday.
“He must have felt very special. He was an unassuming person. He says, ‘You don’t have to do that,’ and I know he’s smiling. ” said Dorothy. “Tomorrow he won’t be with us physically, but he’ll be there mentally.”
Williams’ family says they wouldn’t have survived the days and weeks after his death without the help of the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, which is why they spoke to the sheriff and sheriff’s office during Tuesday’s opening. There is also a plan to honor the deputy.
“The Clayton County Sheriff’s Department made us feel like we were special and not just a number,” Dorothy said.
“They just provided great service when we really needed it,” Butler added.
Reel South Atlanta’s grand opening will be held on Tuesday, April 16th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
