Three female entrepreneurs have opened their second business venture, 2•0•1 Reclaimed Vintage Relics, in downtown Culpeper and are making a name for themselves in the local business community.
Founders Jillian Dedham, Devon Romano and Kim Bonner celebrated a major milestone in their growing portfolio of businesses with the spring grand opening of their newest store at 201 N. Main St., after which the store is named.
2•0•1 sells refurbished, recycled, upcycled and carefully selected vintage home décor and furniture, often featuring the company’s chalk paint product, Bungalow 47.
“It’s so hard to find really good quality, really well-made furniture that most people would consider antique,” Romano says. “This is a way to create unique furniture! We also take custom orders.”
Romano went on to say that the store was a “joint vision,” but that Bonner ultimately got the credit.
“She’s an avid collector and loves giving new meaning to old items,” Romano said. “We explored the area together, found Spruce Vintage, and fell in love with her passion and vision for giving old clothes new appeal. She has a great eye and helped us bring our vision to life.”
The trio also own the adjacent store, Lily Rose & Co., which opened in November 2022.
“Our mission is to provide a platform for local artists to share their beautiful creations and custom designs with the rest of our community,” Romano said. “We share a vision that goes beyond just supporting local makers and artists. (We) want to support local people who are passionate about blending old with new, giving new life to fashion and design from the past, and finding well-curated home décor, refurbished or vintage pieces to exude a beautiful, modern feel.”
Combined, the stores provide a platform for 54 local artists, makers and collectors.
“We’ve really enjoyed being a part of the downtown icon and have received a lot of love and support from Culpeper Renaissance, the Chamber of Commerce and especially all of the other local business owners,” Romano said. “I believe we all have a common goal, which is to bring vibrancy and excitement to the downtown area and provide retail, and we wanted to make sure our new space would complement everything else downtown has to offer.”
Dedham is a longtime maker and mother of six children. Bonner is the mother of two daughters and five grandchildren. Romano is also a longtime maker and mother of 10-year-old twins.
Dedham met Romano while renting space at the Country Shops of Culpeper during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Romano joined Dedham and Bonner, who were already teaming up at the Graves Mountain Apple Festival.
