The Pillsbury Hospitality Entrepreneurship Institute at Cornell University’s Nolan School of Hotel Management today announced the creation of a network and series of events, resources and conferences for entrepreneurial individuals and organizations across the hospitality industry. The network facilitates the sharing of best practices, bridging funding sources and investment opportunities, and identifying opportunities for partnership and collaboration. The project was launched by his convening of 50 outstanding entrepreneurs and thought leaders from across the country for a one-of-a-kind summit to be held at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa on May 2nd and 3rd. Summit attendees spoke about the future of what is in many ways the world’s largest industry. This includes hotel and restaurant owners and managers, innovators in travel technology, food technology, and artificial intelligence, investors and venture capitalists, and a wide variety of others involved in the hospitality entrepreneurship ecosystem. Participants ranged from recent graduates to seasoned executives and included James Beard Award winners, Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees, hospitality industry luminaries, government officials, and prominent thinkers. This included leaders and others.
Entrepreneurship plays a key role in innovation, economic growth and social mobility, including in the travel and tourism industry. The success of this launch event and networking plans speak to the excellence of the Cornell Nolan School of Hotel Management, its important role in the hospitality industry, and its world-renowned culture and convening power. Howard H. Stevenson, professor emeritus at Harvard Business School, is co-founder of Pravi, which collaborated with Cornell University and Borgata on the summit.
Thought leaders invited to promote participation in the summit included Olympian and sports and media entrepreneur Priscilla Loomis; Ray Fernandez is the owner of his two award-winning marinas and is known nationally for his environmental leadership. James Sherman is the leader of Harvard Business School Angels, one of the world’s largest university-affiliated investment groups, and is a serial entrepreneur and author.
Borgata is honored to be selected to collaborate with Cornell University School of Hotel Management and Pravi on such a meaningful initiative for the industry. She was especially pleased to be represented and embraced by entrepreneurs and thought leaders from across the country, as well as local communities, including Stockton University and the Atlantic City metropolitan area.
