SALT LAKE CITY — After Trump’s conviction and Hunter Biden’s trial, everyone has an opinion about the justice system. Mine comes from Corey Harris, the man who was arrested near Detroit for driving with a suspended license.

He took the bold step of attending a court hearing held over Zoom while driving.

The judge couldn’t believe it. He was found out.

Lock him in jail, the public said, and the judge agreed.

wait a minute

But wait! It turns out that 44-year-old Corey Harris had his driver’s license suspended three years ago for not paying child support. But a judge overturned the suspension, and after a few years, Harris paid the fees to have his driver’s license reinstated last month.

So when he was sitting in his car on trial for driving without a license, he was right, and the world said, “Free him! Free him!”

Then he drove home and justice was served.

But wait, there’s more

But wait a minute: In the latest development in this judicial blunder, the court reviewed motor vehicle records and found that Corey Harris did not have a valid driver’s license.

Just like always. In all conditions. Throughout your life.

When his license was reinstated, no one realized he never had one in the first place.

So the world again cried out, “Send him to jail!” And this time the judge saw Corey Harris in court wearing a “Trust Me” T-shirt and decided, “No!” and sent Harris to jail instead.

That is why the case should not be tried in the ever-changing court of public opinion.
