For five generations, Johnson Transportation has been providing transportation to and from school for children.
In 1924, Axel Johnson began taking children to school in a horse-drawn carriage. Johnson and his wife Olga ran the business for many years before it was passed on to their son, Robert Johnson and his wife, Lois. The couple ran the business for many years, and when they retired, the company was passed on to their son, John Johnson and his wife, Caroline.
In 2019, John and Caroline’s daughter, Connie Johnson, and her son, Cody Haight, took over Johnson Transportation. They acquired Suppa Transportation and merged the two businesses, and are now the fifth generation to carry on this family tradition.
This landmark milestone was celebrated in May when the century-old family-owned business was recognized by Senator Scott Hutchinson, Warren County Schools President Mike Keel and the Warren County Tourism Bureau.

At the celebration, Johnson and Haight “Let’s pack the buses.” Donations went to a local food pantry and a basket raffle raised more than $3,000 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation, helping Warren County boy Liam and his family make his wish come true.
Liam and his family went to Florida and enjoyed some of the theme parks. His mom said: “We just have to be a normal family.”
Johnson Transportation owns 14 school bus routes and 19 van routes serving schools in Warren County, including Tidiout Charter School, St. Joseph Catholic School and Warren County Christian School. The company also operates buses for field trips and activities.
