About 400 years ago, the Constitutions of 1638 and 1639 were created in Connecticut. Historians say it was the first formal constitution in the world. For this reason, Connecticut was nicknamed the “Constitution State.”
Since then, Connecticut has been the birthplace of important achievements and inventions in American history. Sky To OceanThese developments are chronicled in a new feature-length documentary from the University of Connecticut, “Innovating Connecticut.” Worth Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
The project was initiated by University of Connecticut President Radenka Maric, led by Worth Institute Director David Noble, and directed by Worth Associate Research Professor Zeljko Mirkovic.
More than 30 people “doing incredible work on and off campus” tell their stories in the 53-minute documentary, Milkovich said.
Those interviewed included Malick, Noble, University of Connecticut President Ann D’Alleva, Vice Provost for Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Pamir Alpay, Associate Professor of History and Connecticut State Historian Andy Horowitz, former U.S. Senator Chris Dodd, and Governor Ned Lamont, among many others.
The founders of the Connecticut-based company Junk Ruggers and Skyle Engage with state history experts from the New England Air Museum, the New Haven Museum, the Mark Twain House & Museum, and more. Profile notable University of Connecticut alumni, including Vlado Coric, CEO of Biohaven Pharmaceuticals, and entrepreneur and philanthropist Trisha Bailey, co-managing partner of the law firm Cantor Colburn. Michael Cantor, attorney, philanthropist and former chairman of the University of Connecticut Board of Trustees Coleman Levy;
“This is a story told through people, this is a story told through archives. This is a story of evidence,” Milkovich said. “It’s a testament to the fact that the University of Connecticut and the University of Connecticut are innovating and bringing new value every day.”
