Days after a video of a dead rat found in a Hershey’s chocolate syrup bottle went viral, another shocking incident took place at Devi Dosa eatery in Nicol, Ahmedabad, where a customer found a dead rat in a bowl of sambar that he was being served. In the video, the dead rat can be seen floating in the sambar.
The video, shared by Instagram account @ahmedabad.updates, begins with a tiny mouse being served in a disposable white bowl among other food on a table, before cutting to a clip inside the restaurant’s kitchen, where large quantities of sambal can be seen stored in open containers.

The video sparked outrage on social media, with several users slamming the eatery. Reacting to the video, one user wrote, “When will they wake up and bring in strict hygiene rules?” Another commented, “What is the hygiene situation in Gujarat these days? I request the Food and Drug Administration not to take sneaky money and approve such hotels.”
“Restaurants like this should be closed forever and the owners should be jailed,” said a third user.

Recently, a family discovered a dead mouse in a bottle of Hershey’s chocolate syrup they had ordered from a quick commerce company.
Earlier, a 26-year-old doctor had filed a complaint with Mumbai’s Malad police station after he found a piece of meat with a nail in an ice cream cone he ordered online. Following the doctor’s complaint, police have filed a case against an unidentified Yumo employee under sections 272 (adulteration of food), 273 (sale of poisonous food or drink) and 336 (reckless or dangerous act endangering human life) of the Indian Penal Code.
