Casper College press release by Lisa S. Icenogle:

Casper College freshman Susan Noah won $1,250 in the women’s entrepreneur category for best submission in the John P. Ellbogen $50,000 Entrepreneurship Competition.

Noah, an entrepreneurship major at CC, began her business proposal for the competition in October 2023. She started the competition with a three-page executive summary. Her summary paper was accepted and she advanced to the second round, where she had to present a six-page business concept to a panel of judges and participate in an eight-minute Zoom presentation followed by an eight-minute question-and-answer session.

The field was narrowed down to eight participants, with Noah being the only freshman. For the competition, Noah had to submit a 22-page business report. With the help of business instructor Jim Chaperow, Noah completed his report in April. “Mr. Chaperow helped me write a 22-page business report through his independent study class,” Noah said.

Noah worked on the competition for nearly a year, from October to April, while taking classes toward her entrepreneurship degree at Casper College. “Writing the plan was a big learning curve for me. When I started, I only had introductory business classes,” Noah recalls. This spring semester alone, Noah successfully completed an impressive schedule of 20 credits.

Noah’s proposed business is called UniquiClay Creative Studio. “I’ve been doing pottery for years, and the judges recognized my love for pottery and my desire to be a business owner,” she said.

During the live competition held at the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Noah received support from family, friends and CC business instructor Joseph Meeks. “A big part of her success was the support from people who believed in her and her idea,” Meeks said.

“She will be successful. She is a good student. Susan is always prepared and listened intently to the two classes she has taken with me. She was very interested in the competition and worked hard at it,” Meeks noted.

Noah’s win marks the first time a Casper College student has won the annual contest. “It’s very unusual for a freshman at a community college to win,” Meeks said.

Noah’s mom was so excited throughout the competition, she was “jumping up and down and crying” when her daughter was named Female Entrepreneur of the Year. She said she’s “so grateful for my mom and the times she’s spent helping me succeed.”

These Lego artworks are incredible

Who hasn’t played with LEGO at least once in their life? Maybe they’ve built a cool house or a fantastic car, but few of us have used millions of LEGO bricks to create an entire work of art.

Luckily, there is one incredible artist who is coming to Boston with his work, and here’s a look at what you can expect to see at The Art of the Brick this fall.
