Since 1995, a total of 24 players have had the honor of leading the Springboks in official test matches. Among them, three captains led South Africa to Rugby World Cup glory, with one player achieving it twice.
The Springboks’ coaches favor their forwards as leaders, and this is clearly reflected in the list, with just four backline players skipping the team compared to 20 forwards.
