As the daughter of Vietnamese immigrants, Jenny Poon opened a restaurant and witnessed the struggles of navigating all aspects of growing a small business. When she became an entrepreneur herself, she used that experience to create a resource platform to provide city governments with community-building and business-support methodologies.
Her company, HUUB, recently won the 2024 CivStart Government Innovation Challenge and Pitchfest, a competition that seeks solutions that enhance communication, streamline processes and foster collaboration between governments, business owners and citizens.
In this episode GovTech: In case you missed itJenny speaks with Dustin and Joe about the challenges the pandemic has revealed, her desire to support overburdened economic development teams, and the equity that can be created in communities when access is improved and barriers are lowered, enabling underserved and underrepresented entrepreneurs to create businesses and jobs.
