Ohio is targeting two running backs in the 2025 recruiting class, and the Buckeyes have their eyes on several prospects to fill those spots.
After taking over as Oregon State RB coach Carlos Loughlin Exchange tony alford — left for rival Michigan — OSU is in a strong position with one of those players on the list.
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei 4-star running back Jordon Davison I had high praise for the Buckeyes before Loughlin arrived, but his addition seems to make them a winning team. On Monday, On3’s Steve Wiltfong entered OSU’s pick into the Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) and acquired Davison.

“I’m big on tradition,” Alford told On3. “This is a college town, so I like to live in a college town and get that college feel. There’s a lot of history at Ohio State, and the people have left a lot of legacy there. If you go, I think you will be on the verge of making history and your name will be etched in college football history.”
The four-star player was impressed by the success of James Laurinaitis, who played college football at Ohio State University. He’s also intrigued by the coaching style of the Buckeyes’ assistants.
“I like the way he speaks to people,” Alford said. “He’s young enough to be able to relate to the young recruits, but also old enough and have been through things that he can relate to with their parents…Coach Laurinaitis can do both. He helps everyone It makes me feel comfortable and makes me feel loved.”
