A juice bar in Baltimore, Maryland that supports young people is expanding into a second location.
As AFROTECH™ previously reported, Rich Juice Bar will open its doors to the South Baltimore community in 2023. Co-founder Michael Battle had experienced health issues such as diabetes and high blood pressure, but after adopting a healthier diet, he saw improvement, the Baltimore newspaper reported. banner. Now, along with his wife Danielle, they have made it their life’s mission to make healthy foods like juices, smoothies, acai bowls, and more affordable and accessible.
Additionally, Rich Juice Bar’s mission is to reach young people, providing training in communications, entrepreneurship, banking, and financial advocacy, as well as employment opportunities.
“This social enterprise provides health and economic vitality, healthy and delicious cold-pressed juices, nutrient-dense smoothies, and plant-based food options,” a statement on the company’s Instagram page reads. “Rich Juice Bar will blossom in the heart of Cherry Hill’s food desert. The juice bar will also serve as an educational hub, sharing information about healthy eating and alternative food options with the community.”
Less than a year after Rich Juice Bar opened on May 27, 2023, it’s expanding to a second location at Harborplace Light Street Pavilion in Baltimore, according to Baltimore. The Banner newspaper reports.
“I never dreamed of doing business in Harbor Place,” Michael said, according to the newspaper.
For Daniel, the place is a full-circle moment. She often visited Harbor Place as a tourist before studying at Morgan State University. She looks forward to “being part of the people who bring light and life” to Light Her Street Her Pavilion.
The couple is currently in the process of hiring a manager for the Light Street store and hopes to attract the attention of students attending Digital Harbor High School to find a job.
