Vice President Kamala Harris will speak at a rally in Philadelphia on Saturday afternoon, while Donald Trump will hold his own rally in western Pennsylvania a few hours later to announce his running mate.
Both rallies came on the heels of one in Michigan, another battleground state, where Biden sought to reassure voters and again vowed to keep the campaign going, saying, “I’m running, and we’re going to win.”
The president told supporters in Detroit: “I promise, it’ll be okay.”
Since Biden’s disastrous loss in last month’s presidential debate, there have been panicked calls, a candid op-ed from George Clooney and calls for him to withdraw from the 2024 race to make way for a younger successor, and wealthy donors are holding back $90 million in contributions as long as Biden remains on top.
Meanwhile, the Trump campaign They are said to be afraid that Biden will step down. When they support a younger candidate, age is no longer a factor and they do well in the polls.
During an hour-long press conference (which featured some notable gaffes) watched by 22.5 million Americans (more than the Oscars), the president again vowed to “get the job done.”
Republicans step up attacks on Kamala Harris after Biden’s disastrous debate defeat
With Joe Biden’s future uncertain, Republicans have set their sights on another target: Vice President Kamala Harris.
Members of the president’s own party – donors, lawmakers and politically active figures – have also joined in calling for Biden to step down, while the president himself has remained defiant, telling supporters in Michigan on Friday, “I’m running. And we’re going to win.”
The Trump campaign reportedly doesn’t want to face anyone other than Biden, but Republicans seem prepared for Harris to come out on top. Since the debate, Harris has been the target of sexist and racist attacks from Republicans.

In case you missed it: Giuliani’s bankruptcy case has been dismissed
A federal judge on Friday dismissed the bankruptcy filing of President Trump’s former personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.
The measure would make it easier for two election workers who were disgraced over baseless claims about the 2020 election to recover tens of millions of dollars in unpaid wages.
Friday’s decision came days after Giuliani’s lawyers said they supported dismissal of the lawsuit, arguing that this was in the best interest of the former mayor and his creditors because it would leave them “free to continue” the litigation outside bankruptcy court.
The judge wrote in his order that the court record “reflects that Mr. Giuliani failed to meet his reporting obligations and provide the financial transparency required of debtor possessors.”
“The lack of financial transparency is particularly troubling given concerns that Mr. Giuliani has engaged in personal dealings and has conflicts of interest that could impede the bankruptcy proceedings,” the judge added.
“It is ‘impossible’ to determine whether Mr. Giuliani’s financial arrangements are appropriate when he has provided no information about them whatsoever,” he wrote.

Harris and Trump to speak in Pennsylvania
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are scheduled to hold rallies in battleground states on Saturday.
Harris is scheduled to speak in Philadelphia at 3:30 p.m.
Trump is scheduled to speak at 5 pm near Pittsburgh, just two days before the Republican National Convention, where he is expected to be nominated as the GOP candidate.
The rallies took place the day after Biden spoke to a crowd in Detroit and vowed to continue his campaign, saying, “I’m running, and we’re going to win.”

Musk made a “significant” donation to a pro-Trump super PAC months after vowing not to donate to either candidate.
Elon Musk, the world’s second richest man, has reportedly donated a “significant amount” to a pro-Trump super PAC.
The amount of Musk’s donation is unclear. BloombergMedia outlets that first reported the donations to America PAC called the amount “substantial.” There is no limit to the amount an individual donor can give to a super PAC.
The donation comes months after the Tesla CEO announced in March that he would not donate to either the Biden or Trump campaigns.

At the event: I attended Biden’s “big boy” press conference. It was over-the-top.
Andrew Feinberg In the room was Independent:
Just hours before a “big boy” press conference meant to reassure us all, President Joe Biden made a devastating mistake. Inviting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky onto the stage at a NATO event, he accidentally called him “President Putin.” It was a nail-biting moment, one that elicited audible groans throughout the room. Biden’s excuse a few seconds later, that he’d accidentally let it slip because he was “too focused on taking down Putin while he was speaking,” was no comfort.
After hours, Independent They joined a small group of reporters allowed to attend an hour-long news conference Thursday night.

Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman called on Democrats to “stop the bullshit” amid growing calls for Biden to resign.
Hours before President Trump held a rally in his home state of Pennsylvania, Senator Fetterman called on Democrats to make a decision.
Democratic senators have continued to speak out in Biden’s defense amid growing calls from colleagues in his own party for the president to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.
Fetterman endorsed Biden after his debate gaffe, noting his own comeback after a rocky 2022 debate.
On Wednesday, the senator again defended Biden in an interview with Fox News, saying, “I’m not following him blindly, but I believe he’s a great president and I believe he can ultimately win.”
Today, he issued a slightly different message.

Bill Maher predicts historic day for Biden to leave office
Late-night host Bill Maher predicted that Democrat President Joe Biden won’t last long in the 2024 race and will step down on a historic day, even as he resists growing calls to drop out of the race.
“New rule: Stop messing around!” Maher ruthlessly declared on Friday’s episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher.”
“The question with President Biden is not if he will be president, but who,” Maher continued. “Who will replace him? With all due respect, he will not be the Democratic nominee for president in 2024.”
He expected to step down on Aug. 9, exactly 50 years after then-President Richard Nixon signed his resignation after the Watergate scandal.

What would happen if Donald and Melania divorced?
With the former first lady barely making campaign appearances and rumors flying about renegotiating their prenuptial agreement, there has been ongoing speculation that the former president and his wife of 19 years, Melania Trump, could be heading for divorce, especially if Trump wins the presidential election in November.
Melania Trump has been a reluctant first lady, primarily focused on her young son, Barron Trump, but this week, Barron, now 18, made his first appearance at a Trump rally.
Cheers erupted as Trump sat in the front row at a campaign event at Miami’s Doral resort, but his mother was nowhere to be seen.
