The 2018 BBC documentary has topped Netflix’s trending charts since being re-released on the streaming service.
“Car Crash: Who’s Lying?” delves into the mystery of a car crash that supposedly took place on a dark country road, and documents how police try to uncover the truth amid changing stories and clashing alibis.
At the time of writing, the film is number one on Netflix UK’s trending movie charts.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened with a British project that may not have gone unnoticed when it was originally aired on television.
In April 2019, ITV drama Cleaning Up, starring Sheridan Smith as a cleaner who enters the murky world of insider trading, ranked second on Netflix UK’s list of most-watched shows.
The early 2000s TV series Fat Friends, starring Sheridan Smith and future Gavin & Stacey stars, was also popular around the same time.

Of course, this also happens when classic, long-form American shows are added to streaming.
The Office and Friends in the US have always been popular for streaming, but recently Suits has become more popular than ever thanks to its availability on Netflix (as well as Peacock in the US and BBC iPlayer in the UK).
A Suits spinoff was given top priority in the works last year, and Arrow actor Stephen Amell was announced to play the lead role a few months ago.
