Are there days when it is ideal to observe a solar eclipse?

ST. LOUIS — It’s time to get serious. You won’t be able to see the solar eclipse if clouds block your view. Unstable weather is expected in the Gulf early Monday morning. Those looking for perfection in Texas are probably out of luck, there are even showers in their forecast.

The million-dollar question is, “Will clouds roll into Missouri and Illinois in time to disrupt the eclipse?” It doesn’t feel very good.

Do you think it will be cloudy? No. Do you think it will be picture perfect? Also, no.

In the video above, models show clouds developing north and west of the storm line as it passes through the Gulf. There will be no rain, but the result will be clouds that reach into Missouri and Illinois.

Timing could help slow or accelerate cloud spread. Windows are only required from 12pm to 3pm. I am confident that the clouds and sun will mix during the eclipse window. It’s not a perfect observation, but we hope to see a glimpse of the solar eclipse. The video below is a close-up of the weather forecast for Missouri and Illinois.

Cloud cover rates worsened overnight. Initial modeling was in the 20% range, but as you can see, it has improved to the low 30% range. Forecasts can change, especially here in the dual states. What I am certain of is that the day of the eclipse will be comfortable with high temperatures in the 70s.
