Are the Noles looking to acquire a blue chip tight end in 2025?

FSU football may be the hottest team in the country on the recruiting trail this week. The Noles had four blue-chip players committed this week, and have landed three more since Monday with more on the way. The Noles have visited both of their feeder states, Florida and Georgia, but they are also attracting interest from players who live outside of those two states. One of those players, four-star tight end Chase Loftin, took an official visit to the Noles earlier this month. He is from Omaha, Nebraska, and most people thought it was unlikely he would come to FSU. But he released an overview of his visit, saying he loves everything about FSU and that distance won’t be a factor in his recruiting. There must be some truth to that statement, because two On3 recruiting analysts recorded their crystal ball predictions for the Noles on Friday night. One of the analysts covers Nebraska, and the other is the highly-regarded Steve Wiltfong. One analyst gave him a confident 5 out of 10, while the other gave him a confident 6 out of 10. Loftin is ranked 374th nationally, 19th among tight ends and the No. 2 player in the state of Nebraska. At 6-foot-6 and 215 pounds, he holds offers from Nebraska, Texas A&M, Missouri, Arkansas and Florida, among others. His older brother plays at Kansas State.

In the 2024 recruiting cycle, the Noles only had one tight end in Landen Thomas. They appear to have two targets: Lofton and Hollis Davidson. Davidson has said he will choose either Auburn or FSU immediately. FSU tight ends coach Chris Thomsen has quietly improved the talent on that unit over the last two seasons. Lofton and Davidson appear to be physically similar to current FSU tight end Kyle Morlock. Crystal ball predictions are not 100% accurate and things can change quickly, but for now, things are looking good for the Noles.
