Amazon, Macy’s rise while Robinhood Markets, APA fall, Friday, July 5, 2024

Stocks that traded heavily or had large price changes on Friday: Amazon and Macy’s up, Robinhood Markets and APA down

NEW YORK — Stocks with heavy trading volume or big price changes on Friday:

Amazon.com (AMZN), up $2.33 to $199.92.

The online retail giant will take a minority stake in the company as a result of HBC’s acquisition of Neiman Marcus Group.

Macy’s (M), up $1.64 to $19.57.

Arkhouse Management and Brigade Capital Management have reportedly increased their takeover bid for the department store chain.

Barrick Gold Corp. (GOLD), up 30 cents to $17.60.

Shares of gold and copper mining companies rose along with rising metals prices.

Robinhood Markets (HOOD) fell 39 cents to $22.50.

As Bitcoin fell, so did securities trading platforms along with companies closely tied to cryptocurrency activity.

APA Corp. (APA), down 70 cents to $28.73.

Shares of oil and natural gas companies fell along with natural gas prices.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), up $8.76 to $172.66.

The chipmaker has positioned itself alongside other major companies involved in artificial intelligence technology.

JPMorgan Chase (JPM), down $2.48 to $205.06.

Earnings season for the majority of companies begins next week, but several major banks are bringing their earnings reports forward.

Delta Air Lines (DAL), down $1.22 to $46.18.

The airline is due to report earnings next week, among its major competitors.
