Influencer Revanth Himatisinger, popularly known as The Food Farmer, received a letter this morning from an Air India pilot, signed by “Chandni and Rinkesh”, thanking him for promoting healthy eating habits among Indians.
Himatsinka has amassed an Instagram following of 2.6 million people where she exposes dark patterns in prepackaged food marketing, with the Wharton graduate encouraging her audience to ditch unhealthy packaged and junk foods for their own good.
Himatsinka first rose to prominence in April 2023 when he made a video about Bournvita’s high sugar content and the drink’s marketing as a dietary supplement for children. The video earned him a legal notice from the brand, but ultimately forced Bournvita to drastically reduce the sugar content in its products.
Recently, a food farmer shared a video exposing the high sodium content of IndiGo’s in-flight meals. He pointed out that the upma, poha and dal chawal served in IndiGo’s in-flight meals contain more sodium than Maggi. Himasingka said that while these foods may sound healthier than Maggi, this may not necessarily be the case.
