(HOUSTON) – Akin Law Firm is pleased to announce that Capital Markets Partner Brian Flannery has joined the firm’s Houston office. He joins from Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he was a partner.
Flannery’s practice spans a broad range of capital markets transactions, with a particular focus on the energy, sustainability and infrastructure industries, and he represents clients in traditional debt and equity issuances, private placements, convertible debt, corporate governance, public company M&A and general securities law compliance matters. He also has extensive experience with securities matters in special situations and restructuring contexts.
“As capital markets activity continues to accelerate in 2024, we expect deal flow to drive increased demand for M&A and public company legal and advisory services, particularly in the energy sector. Brian will add depth to our capital markets practice and leverage Aiken’s rich history serving some of the world’s leading energy companies to further our growth in the Houston market,” said Kim Coopersmith, chairman of Aiken.
“Brian will be a great resource for our public company clients,” added Zachary Wittenberg, co-head of corporate practice. “His experience with complex securities matters, particularly in the energy industry, will enhance the scale of our capital markets services and energy practice in Houston. We are excited to welcome him to the firm.”
“Akin is the perfect platform to focus on complex capital markets transactions, and I am excited about the opportunity to work with great clients in the energy industry and other public companies,” Flannery said of the move. “I look forward to joining the firm’s Houston office and collaborating with my new colleagues.”
In Houston, Akin recently welcomed energy partners Trent Bridges and Ian Goldberg, as well as private equity partner Andrew Lehman.
