ORLANDO, Fla. — AdventHealth uses technology to improve lives for patients and make surgeries better for doctors.
The da Vinci 5 is a next-generation surgical tool and represents the future of robotic surgery, according to a new release.

AdventHealth is the first in Florida to deploy this next-generation surgical robot.
Last week, AdventHealth’s surgical team led by Dr. Vipul Patel, a world leader in robot-assisted prostatectomy, performed the first week of surgery using the da Vinci 5 system.
“This new technology is the next step in the future of robotic surgery,” said Patel. “The da Vinci 5 promises new innovations that will help improve surgeon comfort and data feedback.”

The release also states, “da Vinci 5 is the successor to da Vinci Xi, which has been widely used by AdventHealth and health systems around the world since its debut in 2014.”
It has been used in more than 7 million surgeries to date, according to manufacturer Intuitive.

AdventHealth said robotic surgery is minimally invasive and has a proven track record of providing better outcomes and patient experiences for certain procedures compared to traditional open surgery or minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.
