Ukraine, April 9 — An acceleration program for establishing defense startup companies has been launched in Ukraine, according to a press release of the initiative called Defense Builder Accelerator.
A press release for the initiative states that the program was developed by leaders in the Ukrainian technology ecosystem, including Genesis, Sigma Software Lab, and Kyiv School of Economics. Members include business representatives, engineers, and military personnel with combat experience.
Organizers say the program will last four months. During this period, Ukrainian defense technology manufacturers will receive mentoring support, assistance in the development of military products and access to investors. The accelerator will assist startup teams with management systems, legal structures, scaling up production, and attracting investment. Their products are tested on the training ground and the team receives feedback from the front lines.
The program’s founders will select 15 startups developing technologies such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), ground robots, drones, counter-electronic systems, software, demining, cybersecurity, avionics and sensors. Teams that include at least two members, a product prototype, and military feedback on the prototype can apply. The initial registration period for the program is from April 4th to April 30th.
