The Simon Center is a university-wide platform led by founding director Wendy Bolger, in partnership with entrepreneur John Weinstein and program administrator Jennifer Sullivan, with the participation of an SCI&E student steering committee, and funded by generous alumni funding.
Loyola University’s Simon Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship develops student innovators through education, hands-on experiences and creative experimentation. The Simon Center’s mission is to elevate innovation and entrepreneurship on the Loyola campus and throughout Baltimore. The Simon Center’s important work creates lasting impact in the city by supporting wealth and job creation from underrepresented women entrepreneurs and innovators of color.

Commitment to racial justice
In keeping with our mission to engage in change in Baltimore by providing support for women innovators and entrepreneurs of color, SCI&E strives to be an anti-racist organization. SCI&E pledges to engage ourselves and others to think critically about the role race plays in relationships, programs, and organizations, and to include racial justice analysis in decision-making.
history
SCI&E kicked off in Fall 2018 with a Community Launch Week that brought together hundreds of students and community members and featured a variety of events, speakers, and new ways for Loyola University to engage with SCI&E. The launch built on the momentum that had been building on campus in the form of an Innovation Task Force, Blitz, University Innovation Fellows, and a generous founding gift to SCI&E. An academic minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship was also made available in Fall 2018 and has rapidly attracted students from a variety of academic disciplines.
