A strong 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan early Wednesday morning, killing one person and injuring dozens. Taipei Times report. As of 8 a.m. ET, 34 aftershocks had been recorded. Horrifying videos of collapsed buildings and skyscrapers shaking violently flooded social media in the aftermath of the natural disaster.
One video shared by user Colin Rugg on X shows a collapsed building while people flee from an area filled with rubble. As the video progresses, a skyscraper can be seen shaking. While sharing the video, Rugg wrote, “Just in: A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck Taiwan, shaking the entire island and even collapsing some buildings. This earthquake caused a tsunami of up to 10 feet from Japan. A warning was issued. “A tsunami is coming. Evacuate immediately. Don’t stop. Don’t go back,” said the NHK anchor. Hualien City on Taiwan’s east coast appears to have suffered major damage. The city was close to the epicenter of the earthquake. ”

Another video shows the bridge shaking violently as commuters wait patiently in their cars for the disaster to subside.
In other videos, passengers on the subway can be seen clinging to seats and guardrails to keep themselves safe. One user shared the video and wrote, “Passengers witness 7.3 magnitude earthquake in Taiwan. That’s really amazing.”
One video that went viral shows part of a mountain collapsing, causing a massive landslide. “Breaking news: A magnitude 7.5 earthquake caused landslides in Taiwan,” the user wrote.
Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida supported X and announced aid to Taiwan to deal with the fallout. He said, “Japan stands ready to provide all necessary support to Taiwan, our neighbor across the ocean, in times of hardship.” Written by Kishida..
