Everett Elementary School second grade students recently participated in the annual Entrepreneurship Fair. On April 5, 2024, the school hallways buzzed with excitement as young people turned paper into profit.
As part of a unit on goods and services, students were tasked with inventing and selling a unique product made entirely from paper. Products ranging from origami bookmarks to paper airplanes showcased the budding entrepreneur’s boundless imagination.
Using poster boards as makeshift storefronts, students created their own colorful displays. They eagerly awaited the arrival of their companions with play funds to enjoy the shopping experience.
Throughout the morning session, visitors from other classes flooded the fair. Laughter and chatter filled the air as the deal unfolded, and students on both sides of the exchange learned valuable lessons about commerce and consumerism.

But the excitement didn’t end there. After a well-deserved lunch break, the roles were reversed and the former buyer took the position of the store owner. Armed with their newfound entrepreneurial spirit, they looked forward to their turn to dazzle customers with their innovative paper products.
The fair not only provided hands-on learning experiences, but also fostered essential skills such as teamwork, creativity, and financial literacy. As students navigated the complex issues of supply and demand, they deepened their understanding of the economic concepts that underpin our society.
Enriched in heart and spirit by this experience, the Everett Elementary School second graders left a lasting impression on all participants, proving that age is no barrier to unleashing creativity and entrepreneurship.
