Below are the full results of the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka International Circuit, won by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

Verstappen was untouchable through 53 laps at Suzuka, shaking off any threat from the starting grid at both race starts. In the first attempt to start the race, Williams’ Alex Albon and running back Daniel Ricciardo collided, resulting in a red flag 30 seconds later. In turn 3.

Max Verstappen leads Red Bull 1-2 at home

Verstappen didn’t have to worry too much about the cars behind him after seeing off Perez at the opening corner. He slowly but surely pulled away from the field and finished more than 10 seconds ahead of Perez.

Third place went to Carlos Sainz after a tense battle between the two Ferrari drivers, the Spaniard using a two-stop strategy and Leclerc using a one-stop strategy. The Monaco team showed great pace in the first stint but were unable to stop Sainz from fighting back on new tires in the closing stages. Sainz found a way to get through Turn 1 with his six laps remaining.

Leclerc returned home in fourth place, the highest of any rider to use the one-stop strategy made possible by the red flag on the first lap. McLaren’s Lando Norris came in 5th place, and although he was gamely and tenacious and gave Ferrari a hard time, he was ultimately unable to match the red car.

Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso took sixth place, while Mercedes’ George Russell, who won a late race battle with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, finished seventh, the next best one-stop driver.

Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes came in 9th place, and the final point went to home hero Hiroki Tsunoda, who showed great driving including a bold overtake midway through to finish 10th.
